Sorry for the downtime!

January 14th, 2010

The files are IN the computer

Hello readers,

I just wanted to give you a quick update and explanation for our recent downtime. We upgraded to Wordpress 2.9 a few days ago, and in the process had to update the MySQL version of our databases. I could go on and give you all the boring details, or just know that when we were upgrading, stuff broke, and we took care of it. RPInsider is back. And now to resume our regularly scheduled programming…

Guerilla art for Dr. Jackson

January 6th, 2010

This news isn’t exactly hot off the presses, but around November 28th or so, someone decided to get crafty and send a message (with a bit of sarcasm) to Dr. Jackson via the steps of the Troy building:

Only a little propaganda-ish

August 3rd, 2009

I came across this new blog published by the Office of the First Year Experience.  Looks like it’s for incoming freshmen to read, and it’s interesting to look at.  We’re happy to see that RPI is getting more interested in blogs, as we have called for Dr. Jackson to start using a blog to communicate with students.  This is a start!

They claim they’re “exploring what it’s like to be a student at Rensselaer.”  I’m not sure if anyone can get the real student experience on a website with the rpi.edu URL, but I’m willing to give them a shot.

We think we still have it covered in terms of uncensored, real student facts at RPI (as opposed to Rensselaer), so we’re not too worried about the competition.   :-D

RPI History in a Modern Way

April 18th, 2009
Her fame may never die

Her fame may never die

This isn’t news, but I just stumbled upon a blog called “RPI History Revealed” through the Library Archives since December 2007.  It’s pretty cool and worth a read.  Looks like it’s updated pretty frequently, and there’s some “mystery images” which are interesting.

Read up on some history, get some school spirit!
