The camel’s back broke

We're trying to calm our fury by putting this picture of a camel with this article
Well, it seems that the straw has broken the camel’s back. The cause? Another miscommunication.
The student Residence Life staff is currently shaping up for next year and at the moment has 5 vacancies, one in each freshmen hall. ResLife has not hired any freshmen RA’s for next year, after a process which led them to believe that they would be hired based on merit, essentially being lied to by the school. All of the upperclassmen that have been up for consideration have been hired (excluding those that had been screened out by the evaluation process as “do-not-hires”). There are not enough applicants to fill all of the RA positions required, and yet all of the freshmen RA applicants have received letters placing them on the alternate list (set up in case RA’s leave to go abroad, decline their position, etc).
There will be a demonstration tomorrow entitled the “Uprise at Five” outside the Russell Sage Dining Hall at 5pm (fbook, thanks dez!), coincidentally or not, when the Board of Trustees will be eating dinner there. If you do not like recent actions by the Institute, such as those we reported here, here, here, here, here, or here, you had better be there!
Stay tuned for more, as this is just the tip of the iceberg…
