Friday 2/20
Fried Japanese food
From 6-9pm on the 2nd floor of the RSDH, you can “sample traditional and contemporary Japanese fried food in this joint event put on by the Japanese Student Association, the Culinary Club, and Tofu Tim. We’ll be cooking Tempura, Katsu (cutlet), and Korroke (mashed potatoes). Cost is $5 per person.”
Free poetry
Lambda Upsilon Lambda’s annual poetry slam is starts at 7pm in the Biotech Auditorium. There is no cost of admission.
Like traveling?
The Transporter 3 is playing in 308 tonight. Now at the bargain price of $2.50 and showing 7, 9:30 and midnight.
Ski/Board
The Ski and Snowboard club’s Friday Night Program still continues. Visit the club’s website for more information.
The three J’s
If you like Jazz or swing dancing, you must head over to the Academy Hall auditorium where the Union Performing Arts Committee hosts their Jump, Jive and Jazz: Concert and swing dance event. The fun begins at 7pm.
More the L type?
If you’re more the “laugh-on-a-friday-night” type, then hit up the McNeil Room starting at 8pm to see comedian Paul Varghese. The event is sponsored by UPAC Comedy and the Rensselaer Bengali Community.

Persepa-what?
Oscar nominated Persepolis is this Saturday’s UPAC Cinema film. If you’re in the class of 2011, you can get in for free. (fbook)
Acapella-fest
The Rusty Pipes and EMPAC play host to 8 other a capella groups at the ICCA Mid-Atlantic Quarterfinals. The event gets under way at 8pm in the Concert Hall. Admission is $10 for students, and $15 for everyone else. (fbook)

Someone blew up america?!
iEAR presents Amiri Baraka with Rob Brown at The Sanctuary for Independent Media at 8pm. The event is a book reading of Baraka’s book entitled Someone Blew Up America as well as a bit of jazz by Brown.

The Hirsch Observatory (that dome thing on top of the science center) is open for public viewing from 8-10pm.
Miss the 80’s? Like the 80’s?
Rev Hall is hosting an 80’s dance party to benefit Joseph’s House of Troy starting at 8pm. It costs $7 at the door.
South Asian Conference
12-5pm, there will be all kind of cool stuff like guest speakers Shoban Bantwal and Sanjay Kaul, and more. Biotech Auditorium.
Sunday 2/22
Who ever said RPI has no culture?
Go and delight your ears with sounds of French Impressionism. RPI pianist Garrett Smelcer ‘11 performs well known works by Claude DeBussy and Maurice Ravel at the C+CC. This one’s free and starts at6:45pm.
