Unconfirmed: Sam Heffner, Chairman, to Step Down
National Science Foundation chairman Arden Bement Jr., President Shirley Ann Jackson, chairman of the Rensselaer Board of Trustees Samuel Heffner Jr. ’56
We have heard a few sources say that Samuel Heffner ‘56, Chariman of the Board of Trustees, will be retiring sometime this year. Heffner, who has been Chairman since before Dr. Jackson joined the Institute (and, we assume, must have helped to name her as president) has been instrumental in assisting Jackson with fulfilling the Rensselaer Plan.
We’re still waiting on Strategic Communications and External Relations to confirm this; we’ll keep you posted.
No idea yet about how this will affect the way things run at the Institute, since none of us has been around for such a changing of the guard, but it’ll be interesting to see how things play out!
