Are these three different thefts? Better find that lock from freshman year…

A $2,000 reward for a $1,950 laptop.
Unless you’ve been staring at the ground all week (because you’ve been sulking about the last IEA exam), you’ve probably seen these posters around. If you haven’t, I challenge you to find a path from a residence hall to a classroom that doesn’t pass one of them. They’re just about everywhere. We thought that the posters were a little bit overboard at first (yes, it’s a big deal to lose your laptop, but posters probably won’t bring them back). Then we read the next poster (after the jump) about (possibly) another laptop stolen, and then another one. Maybe it’s not such a bad idea to get the word out there. We think it may be three separate thefts, but we have yet to verify this.

Our sympathy really goes out to this guy... Can you help him? Transcribed text below.
If you can help him, please contact him. In the latest edition of The Poly, there was also an ad with a $200 reward for another missing laptop from Commons. Here’s a photo of that:

Here’s a transcribed text of what he said:
WHY DO YOU TAKE MY BACKPACK AWAY? IT REALLY CAUSED BIG DIFFICULTY TO ME!To whom took my backpack away:Someone has taken my backpack in Russell Sage Dining Hall at about 8:30 last Thursday evening. There are a Lenovo Thinkpad W500 laptop and a Casio calculator in it, which are really important and expensive for me. I come from China, which means the laptop is really expensive for me! As my family does not have much money, you taking my bag away really makes a big damage on my family, and I may not have enough money to buy another computer, which will also cause problems to my study life.So, please return my bag to me, and I will not ask you any questions but thank you for returning the bag to me! If you decide to return my bag to me someday, please send an email to huancheng0621 |at| 126 |dot| com to tell me when and where to get my backpack.No matter whether you decide to return it now, I will keep wishing you to do so, and thank you for reading this page, thank you for thinking about this matter, and I hope one day I will thank you for returning the bag to me!Sincerely,One person whose backpackhas been taken by someone.WHY DO YOU TAKE MY BACKPACK AWAY? There have been multiple (and separate) thefts in mainly the dining halls (specifically Commons) as of late so definitely lock them or keep them with you at all times. You should check the blotter more often …
What irks me to no end is that instead of posting “ON CAMPUS CRIME” posters they put out ONE simple “Special Alert”. I’m guessing it’s for PR reasons, but all of these incidents ARE on-campus crimes!! Not all the thefts have been in the blotter either. I am supremely disappointed in DPS for their apparent lack of action on this problem!
If it is actually for PR reasons that these thefts are being kept quiet, then shame on you DPS. You will sacrifice our saftey just so the ‘tute can have a good reputation?
@JC Reardon
What exactly is Dps? Something public safety?
There was a massive laptop theft in Greene today. From what I heard, 3 backpacks with laptops were stolen from studio.
