Plenty to do this weekend! Take advantage of free events and roaming Alumni.  If you see anybody that looks lost, you should probably help them.

Friday October 2

Get a job! at the career fair.  It begins at 10 AM in the Armory.  More information is available at careerfair.rpi.edu.

If you’re into esoteric physics lectures, check out “Toward the ultimate laws of nature: dark matter, supersymmetry, the LHC, and string theory,” a lecture by Gordon Kane of the University of Michigan at 3:30 PM in Sage 3303.

This isn’t on campus, but Starbucks’ Via Taste Challenge begins at 5 PM, and they’re offering free coffee.

Join Hillel celebrate Sukkot with Shabbat dinner at 6:30 in the Shelnutt Gallery.  Free.

Women’s hockey opens their season at 7 PM in the Houston Field House as they battle the Wayne State Warriors.  Free.

UPAC is showing The Taking of Pelham 123 at 7, 9:30, and midnight.  $2.50. DCC 308.

Get your Fifteen Minutes of Fame at the Ground Zero Open Mic Night at 8 PM in the basement of Nugent Hall.  Free.

Dirty Paris, Timbre Coup, and Deja play at Revolution Hall downtown starting at 8 PM.  $10.

Saturday October 3

ECAV FanFest begins at 10 AM with a ribbon cutting ceremony.  There will be free food, live entertainment, carnival games, stilt walkers, and more.  For more info, go to rpi.edu/about/ecav

The Homecoming Football Game against the University of Rochester is at 1 PM.  Games are free with a Student ID.

Women’s Ice Hockey takes on Wayne State again at 3 PM at the Houston Field House.  Free.

Women’s soccer takes on Vassar College at 4 PM on Renwyck Field.

PakSA Celebration Dinner at 6 PM in the Academy Hall Auditorium.  Tickets are $5 at the door.

The Men’s Hockey Team opens their season with an exhibition game against Prince Edward Island.  Houston Field House.  7 PM.

DANCE MOViES premieres at EMPAC at 7 PM.  Four films commissioned by EMPAC will be shown again if you missed them last October at the EMPAC opening.

Jordan, Monster Machismo, Zona Mexicana, Beware!, [] are performing at Ground Zero in the basement of Nugent Hall for $3 at 7 PM.

UPAC Cinema is playing Mulan at 7, 9:30 and midnight in the DCC 308.  $2.50.

Seeing stars is always easier at the Hirsch Observatory in J-ROWL, open to the public at 8 PM.

Per Tengstrand plays on the one-year anniversary of his last performance at the EMPAC opening Gala.  His concert will track the evolution of piano during the life of Beethoven.

Sunday October 4

The Dedication of the RPI Athletic Hall of Fame will take place at 11 AM in ECAV.
