I’ve heard it made people cry… “Up” is playing at UPAC Cinema tonight at the usual times: 7, 9:30, and midnight. Tickets are $2.50
If you want to laugh, Sheer Idiocy is performing at 8 PM in Mother’s in the Union. They’re the improv comedy group, and it’s usually a pretty good time. FREE.
Get your 15 minutes of fame at Ground Zero. They’re having their “BiWeakly Open Mike,” which I assume is a biweekly open mic. Free. In the basement of Nugent Hall (use the entrance closer to Bouton Road).
Saturday 9/19
We LOVE street festivals! LarkFEST 2009 starts at 10 AM and parties on until 7 PM. It’s free, and on Lark Street in Albany (a really cool street!). Moby, BellX1, Matt & Kim, and lots of other bands will play. You can find more info here.
If you like barbeques, and are in one of the Asian cultural clubs on campus, you should head to the field behind commons at noon for a barbeque! Free from 12-5 and it looks like they have a lot of food!
Last week we won 28-0. This week, we play Utica. Football at ECAV. 1 PM. Free for RPI Students with ID, $5 for general admission for your friends.
Back and forth… Women’s tennis plays against SUNY New Paltz in the Sharp Courts at 1 PM, Free. Go out and see them, or just watch from your Sharp apartment. I’m not sure if there are line judges though…
Be a hooligan! Men’s Soccer battles Ithaca college at 3 PM on Renwyck Field. Free.
Desi Movie Night is being sponsored by the Indian Students Association and Rensselaer Bengali Community in Mother’s at 7. They say that it’s free for the movie, and just a few bucks for snacks.
After you’re done at LarkFEST, you can go to After Lark. Held at St. Joe’s Auditorium at the College of Saint Rose, it’s $5 without St. Rose I.D., and there are several bands playing at 7:30. Check it out!.
UPAC does other stuff! Head to the McNeil Room for the UPAC Showcase. It’s free, and starts at 8. Tom Cotter is performing, there will be movie trivia, and much more!
Seeing Stars is always fun at the Hirsch Observatory in J-ROWL. Open 8-10, weather permitting. Free. If the weather turns bad, they show astronomy programs in room 2C30.
Sunday 9/20
CHOWDERFEST (The Third Annual) is happening downtown Troy between 11-4. Grab great samples of chowder for a dollar.
