Weekend News Roundup
RPI was mentioned for (among several other schools) having 2,000 excited students cheering and clapping throughout a recent screening of Pirates II: Stagnetti’s Revenge (yes, the pornographic film). The same was mentioned in the Washington Times. We didn’t hear about this — did anyone else?
Peter Carey, an award-winning author who will be talking in DCC 308 on Tuesday at 8, was noted in the Times Union.
The Times Union also published some very critical words about RPI’s recent expansions in an opinion piece (saying that the new hotel on Hoosick and 1600 6th ave should have been switched!), and that their plans to demolish Proctor’s theatre go against those who call Troy a historical gem. They also say that it would only take $30-$50 million to restore Proctors, while EMPAC cost well over $200 million.
